Scarabeus Engagement and Participation
Our engagement work is at the core of our artistic vision. We believe in the power of culture and creativity to transform the lives of children, young people and families. We aim to connect with young people in new ways and to engage them in our work; to provide exciting and fun opportunities, experiences and challenges, help develop their imagination, improve self-confidence, self-esteem, team work and raise their aspirations. These skills all have a knock on effect in terms of raising achievement at school.
Our work is innovative, creating inspiring site-specific theatrical participatory performances with children and young people within school and community settings. We also provide high quality creative workshops and residencies using yoga, physical theatre, stilts and aerial work. We are committed to providing excellence in young peoples participatory work and to stimulating a fresh approach to cross curricular learning.
Scarabeus have a history of successful long-term partnerships with schools. They can always be relied upon to build strong relationships with a school and have demonstrated remarkable skills at navigating complex environments and built projects that will have sustainable impact for years to come.
Please see the various Pages of the Website for examples of the kinds of projects we can deliver that can be replicated in different contexts.
We would be delighted to tailor-make a creative learning project for you so if you have something particular in mind, so please do get in touch.

THE CORE TEAM BEHIND THESE PROJECTS: Our work combines multi-intelligence and educational theories with over 20 years experience of teaching and research by the Company Directors Daniela Essart and Søren Nielsen, who founded the company in 1988.
They both have taught from early years to professional and university level nationally and internationally. Daniela has an MA in Performing Arts from Middlesex University as well as a Diploma in Pre-School Teaching.
She is trained in physical theatre ( Lecoq method) and aerial skills. She is a trained yoga teacher (British Wheel of Yoga).
