Shakespeare At Keys Meadow

Most of Keys Meadow school pupils and their parents have never attended a classical performance in a theatre. The school has created a biennial event, called Dream Project, where a Shakespeare play is staged at the local Millfield theatre and co-directed by Daniela in collaboration with two other teachers. The whole of year 5 and 6 pupils participate to the project in some capacity, either on stage as performers, or backstage as designers, technicians, fundraisers and marketing team.

In 2011 we staged The Tempest, in 2013 Macbeth and in 2015 Twelfth night.

This has been the most successful Literacy Unit I have ever done: the children loved linking work in the classroom to the theatre/flying project and the literacy work of the class has improved greatly - reading results have rocketed. Year 5 Teacher Keys Meadow Primary School
