A professional training programme created by a consortium of partners – LB Redbridge Arts Team, LB Barking & Dagenham Arts Team, Scarabeus Aerial Theatre and the Filim Company, to address the issue of skills development for young people aged 16-24 who are Not in Education, Employment or training (NEET) living in Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham.
Scarabeus led a 20 day intensive aerial arts and performance skills based training programme for 40 NEET young people. Running alongside these skills, the Filim Company delivered an intensive film and documentary making 8 week training programme for 24 NEET young people.
The training courses led to an LOCN accreditation for the participants. The project was open to NEET young people, BME communities as well as those who were long term unemployed. The participants were actively recruited amongst young people living in the most deprived wards, where those young people often exhibit low self- esteem, low aspirations and limited horizons. The project run January – March 2010.
